The Corrimal fault was also successfully mined during the period with no issues.

On May 5, production commenced at longwall 6 at the approved 365m mining area extension.

Russell Vale produced 218,423 tonnes of coal compared to the 33,551t in the March quarter.

Development for the quarter focused on further continuation of opening up the maingate and tailgate entries for longwall 9 and gate road development has recommenced.

The full UEP extraction approval from the NSW Department of Planning and Federal Department of Environment is still to be finalised.

Due to the current difficultly with gaining UEP longwall extraction approval, the Russell Vale colliery workforce was reduced through a voluntary and forced redundancy process.

The Wongawilli colliery continues under care and maintenance and some of its equipment is being recovered to support the Russell Vale operation. This has reduced the cash spending requirements at Russell Vale.
