The Decmil subsidiary has been contracted to build and install infrastructure and accommodation facilities for workers at BHP’s Caval Ridge mine project in the Bowen Basin.

Construction of the village, southeast of Moranbah, was the second lot of works for the company in the region after it acquired 50% of the Calliope accommodation village near Gladstone.

Decmil chief executive Scott Criddle said the contract win in Moranbah was in line with the company’s growth plan.

“The combined project construction values of the BMA contract announced today and for the Calliope accommodation village are approximately $240 million and provide a strong work platform to expand both [the group] and Decmil Australia’s east coast operations.”

Following the contract award for BHP the company’s work-in-hand is nearly $500 million.

Work at Moranbah is due to start in April.
