The diesel product line began with DBT’s acquisition of Long-Airdox in 2001 and Seneca in 2002.
Under the then DBT banner, all the products were redesigned and several new products have been introduced – including the narrow profile compact loader, the Un-A-Trac diesel powered scoop and the new diesel version of the Ver-A-Trac 650 roof support carrier.
While the diesel group’s technical staff were originally based in Australia, the team has now expanded to the US.
Since 2002 more than 200 Bucyrus diesel machines have been put into operation in various mines in Australia, China, India, the former Soviet Union and Europe and an additional 30 lower profile diesel powered scoops have been placed in the United States since 2006.
Bucyrus’s newest diesel product is the 150hp diesel power pack, approved by the US Mine Safety and Heath Administration, consisting of the Deutz 1013 FC engine and Bucyrus-designed emissions control system.
The pack utilises a Tier II engine and provides the lowest vent rate per horsepower of any power pack on the market today, according to the OEM.
Bucyrus said the pack also offered superior filter life due to reduced diesel particulate matter.
The power pack is used in diesel scoops and haulage vehicles and can be used to re-power older generation ram cars and utility vehicles that require upgrades to meet new emissions standards.
