The board is seeking to determine whether there are any possible gaps between:
- The “statutory position” roles as performed at NSW coal operations; and
- The competency standards in the relevant National Training Package Qualifications; and
- The Coal Competence Board’s statutory examination syllabus.
The first workshop will be held between 8am and noon on May 25 at the Hunter Valley Mines Rescue Station, 6 Lachlan Avenue, Singleton Heights.
Newcastle Mines Rescue Station at 533 Lake Road, Argenton, will host the second workshop the following day, also between 8am and noon.
Input from mining supervisors who have obtained Certificates of Competency within the last five years from the state’s Department of Primary Industries have been encouraged to attend the workshops.
Apart from those in mine management positions, the board would also like to see attendance from engineers, registered training organisations, industry representatives and members of the Panel of Examiners.
Registrations are open until May 22 and lunch will be provided at the workshops.
Other workshops are expected to be held later in other coal mining districts in the state.
