Clean Global Energy, which is in the process of being taken over by Perth-based International Resource Holdings, signed a memorandum of understanding with UK-based Goldbridge Clean Tech Energy, China’s CECIC Chongqing Industry and Inner Mongolia Jie UCG Company to exchange information for the development of a UCG operation in Inner Mongolia.
CECIC’s 165-square-kilometre site holds a deposit of approximately 800-900 million tonnes at depths of more than 300 metres with 5-10m thick seams of long flame coal.
CGE has received initial geological data on the deposit from CECIC and will go over detailed drilling data and surveys as part of a technical review.
Under the MoU, CGE has no rights to extract the coal but is targeting it for UCG technology.
UCG produces low-cost, high-quality syngas that can be used to make ultra-clean diesel and other fuels, power and chemicals.
The companies hope to finalise a joint venture within the next six months.
