The Queensland Mines Inspectorate gave North Goonyella the green light to resume operations on Sunday.
Construction Forestry Mining Energy Union district union inspector Greg Dalliston told ILN the coal handling and preparation plant started up on Sunday, while underground operations resumed yesterday.
He said 26-year-old shuttle car operator, Ryan Matthews, is in good condition despite his hand injuries and could be out of the Royal Brisbane Hospital by the end of the week.
Dalliston said the 38-year-old fitter, Stuart Foley, is getting more rest in Mackay Base Hospital to recover from pelvic injuries.
The union is yet to get proper statements from the two workers, but has enough information to help out with the ongoing investigation process.
Dalliston noted there were some pretty robust procedures at the mine.
But he said there is still some tidying up to do.
He expects other mines might also have some “holes” in their operating systems relating to shuttle cars.
At the moment Dalliston is working with government safety investigators and inspectors and expects an industry-wide safety alert to be “coming out soon”
