Boyd Alfred Beer Jr, 26, of Kittanning, died immediately from his injuries, Armstrong County coroner Robert Bower told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Media reports indicated Beer was operating a roof bolter at the time of the accident.
Following the roof fall, state police were called to the site, but the rescue crew was cancelled once it was determined no-one else was trapped in the mine.
A state Bureau of Deep Mine Safety team recovered Beer's body about 10:30pm on Friday.
The collapse is under investigation by state and federal agencies.
Rosebud operates nine deep mines in Armstrong, Beaver, Cambria, Indiana, and Elk counties. The Tracy Lynne mine, which has been operating since 1997, produced 504,000 tons in 2004.
