The rail project, which will connect the Carmichael coal mine to Queensland’s Abbot Point 160km away, is likely to create up to 2,400 jobs.
“There is an overwhelming support from the Bowen Basin mining sector to see Adani projects come online,” Currie said.
“This approval is a positive sign. It’s also a timely reminder for suppliers and contractors to be visible to our large, national contracting companies which are in the running for major Adani contracts for Carmichael and the rail project.
“That tendering process has started, so now it’s really a waiting game for these major contracts to be awarded.”
