Company spokesperson Robin Chapman reportedly told Bloomberg the Norfolk facility resumed operations on Monday afternoon after suspending port production over the weekend to brace for the large hurricane.

Lamberts Point has a 36 million ton per annum capacity. The port operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the railroad serves mines from Illinois to Pennsylvania.

Lamberts Point Coal Terminal has complete coal blending, as well as mixing for both metallurgical and steam coal applications, according to the Norfolk website.

Last Friday, ahead of the storm, Reuters reported the closure of the Virginia facility and port as well as Dominion Terminal Associates’ and Kinder Morgan’s Pier IX port.

The news service reported that Norfolk would be awaiting the passage of the storm, while Kinder Morgan would undergo a 24-hour closure Saturday and DTA hoped to restart equipment on Sunday or Monday.

Neither Kinder Morgan nor DTA issued public statements on their status as of Monday afternoon.
