New head for UNSW

His appointment, starting in January 2003, is for a three year term. Previous Head of School, Professor Jim Galvin, has taken study leave after eight years as Head, and is working with the Minerals Council of Australia on a review of the Minerals Tertiary Education Council (MTEC) initiative.

Galvin will rejoin the School later in 2003 as Professor of Mining Engineering.
