Indian miner dies

A MINER working at Singareni Collieries SR-3 mine died on Wednesday when the mine roof collapsed ...

The Hindu reported yesterday ongoing attempts were on to retrieve his body from the debris.

No details have been released on the cause or severity of the collapse.

Singareni is jointly owned by the Indian state and central governments. The company’s reserves stretch over 350 kilometres of Pranahita - Godavari valley of Andhra Pradesh in the districts of Khammam, Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal.

Singareni operate 12 opencast and 54 underground mines with manpower of around 93,385.
