Labeled “Make the Right Decision”, the campaign plans to address the range of mining decisions made in the mining workplace, from risk assessment at the miner level to risk management at the operator level. MHSA said the safety push would also look to incorporate contractors to the mining industry.
The government agency said contractor deaths constitute a “disproportionate” number of the fatal accidents in the industry and MHSA officials would look to improve their safety through the new initiative.
As part of the initiative, MHSA said it would conduct safety talks with miners and management at mine sites nationwide.
