The new complex will bring together four major areas of CRC Mining research including electrical engineering, smart mining machines, smart mining systems and disruptive mining technologies education.
"The various research teams will now be able to work closely together to share ideas, discuss their problems and work more collaboratively as a result," Queensland mines minister Stephen Robertson said.
"This work will not only benefit mining in Queensland but right throughout Australia as we develop new ways to make our mining industry more innovative and world-competitive.”
CRC Mining is funded in partnership by the commonwealth and state governments, university partners and the mining industry, who have collectively poured in $A127 million funding over the next seven years.
