Baldor’s Rod McClure told International Longwall News that conveyor manufacturer ACE, on behalf of the Carborough operation, had ordered two 2500K Dodge CST drives for the drift conveyor.

The mine has also ordered 12 G750KR drives for the stockpile, trunk and maingate conveyors.

The new G750KR drive installations will be the largest KR model CST that Baldor has supplied into an underground coal mine in Australia. The mine standardised on the model for interchangeability benefits.

Common in the US, the G750KR is designed for confined spaces so it can fit alongside a belt and not simply just in a cut-through. The model is capable of up to 800kW – meaning more power with less footprint.

“This is great for maingate installations, as they come in left and right-hand configurations,” McClure said.

The critical components will be manufactured in the US and assembled at Baldor’s facility in Shanghai before being shipped to Australia.

The mine will take delivery in the first quarter of 2009.

In other news, Baldor has secured a $A1.2 million order from Nepean Conveyors NQ for Xstrata’s Oaky North expansion for five new 1120K CSTs.

The company has also secured an extension of its contract at Anglo Coal’s Grasstree mine where it has already supplied Reliance Electric Motors and Dodge CSTs for the trunk conveyors underground.
