Campbell started his previous role at Waratah back in 2006 and only left the company in January.
Bandanna is the only listed company with a significant stake in Queensland’s unexploited Galilee Basin. Its South Galilee project, formerly known as Alpha, neighbours Waratah’s China First project.
Campbell has also served as the site manager of the Coppabella mine, the senior project manager at New Acland Coal and as a general manager of the Baralaba coal project.
As a geologist he worked for BHP Billiton and New Hope on Australian and Indonesian coal assets.
“The addition of David to our management team will greatly facilitate implementation of our expanded exploration program over the coming years, which is in part funded by the $22.5 million Samtan placement made in the latter part of 2009,” Bandanna managing director Dr Ray Shaw said.
The South Korean energy company bought a 10% stake of the Queensland explorer in October, with Samtan senior managing director Park Soon IL appointed to the Bandanna board as a director.
A concept study has been started for South Galilee, which hosts 982 million tonnes of thermal coal resources including 922Mt inferred and 60Mt indicated.
The project is a joint venture with AMCI Australia, which can earn up to a 50% interest.
Bandanna shares closed up 1c to 70c in trading today.
