The CFMEU’s proposal put to Glencore would roll over the existing agreement for two years with no pay increases, with a sign-on bonus to be included and roster changes implemented.  

The union has withdrawn protected industrial action until Tuesday. 

CFMEU Queensland district president Chris Brodsky said the deal was a reasonable middle ground and expected it could break the deadlock over the six week dispute.

“Ultimately, the guys want to get this deal done and get on with producing coal,” Brodsky said.

“These guys love their community and they love their job, and have been spending their time on community based projects, but they are keen to get back to work.

“Return to work needs to be on reasonable terms and the extension of the existing agreement without pay rises is a fair compromise. We’re hoping Glencore is also prepared to be reasonable.”
