Bryja, who has been in the coal industry for 22 years, will be based in Baltimore. He has been president of RAG's Pennsylvania Services Corp. since October 2001. Pennsylvania Services is the general partner for the Cumberland and Emerald operations.
“Jim has successfully managed the Pennsylvania Business Unit through several difficult periods and, along with his staff, has transformed those operations into a dependable, cost-focused unit for RAG American Coal Holding," said James F. Roberts, RAG American president and CEO.
“Jim's responsibility will be to oversee the successful execution of [RAG's] business plan for all Eastern operations and participate in the development and implementation of our strategic business plan.”
