With ship arrivals at the terminal now representing 59 million tonnes per year, DBCT has now exceeded its contracted capacity.

DBCT's contracted capacity of 56.82 million tonnes per year dropped to about 53 million tonnes after the collapse of a reclaimer machine last year.

But with deliveries from coal suppliers for loading now standing at only 51 million tonnes per year, the terminal's capacity cannot currently be reach due rail infrastructure capacity restrictions.

Lloyd's List said DBCT mines and Queensland Rail are currently working to bring that figure up to the port's contracted capacity.
