Brook Lapping Productions will commence filming on location this week and could premiere on US “real world media” station the Discovery Channel in January 2007, according to the Associated Press.
According to the project’s executive producer, its nature as a documentary will be maintained: “This is not an investigative piece. There will be no finger-pointing,” Phil Craig told the news service.
Lone explosion survivor Randal McCloy will not be making a cameo appearance; the family responded that his involvement would be “inappropriate” because he is still recovering from his mental and physical injuries.
“This is not a concern about the documentary [but] concern for Randy’s continued recovery and concentration on avoiding detrimental relapses,” family spokesperson Aly Goodwin Gregg told AP.
The film will also focus on West Virginia’s coal mining industry history.
