The lignite mine could begin production in 2010 pending the processing of its state mining application this year, company operations spokesman David Straley told the Associated Press.
Encompassing about 5400 acres in Oliver County, its reserves will be some of the better remaining in the state, he said. Its other mines, Freedom and Falkirk, both actively produce for several power stations as well as the regionally located Great Plains Synfuels plant.
State Public Service Commission mine land reclamation director Jim Deutsch told the AP> the mine’s proposal, once complete, would become available for public comment.
NAC representatives could not be reached for comment on the new endeavour.
