Themed “Mining 2010 and Beyond: maximising resources, alliances, technology and innovation for a sustainable future”, the conference will be held in the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre on July 27-28.
Organisers Reed Exhibitions said the conference would have a wide mix of speakers and presenters, including senior Queensland government representatives, mining industry executives, technical specialists, international experts and hands-on minesite managers.
Key participating organisations include the Queensland Resources Council, Peabody Energy, Bow Energy, Pacific National, Wesfarmers, Gladstone Ports Corporation and the Mackay Regional Council.
With Mackay’s close proximity to the resource-rich central Queensland coalfields, the coal sector will be the primary focus of the event.
Day one will cover topics including export opportunities, emerging underground coal gasification (UCG) and coal seam gas (CSG) technologies, exploration updates and associated funding and cost management considerations.
Day two will provide perspectives from those working inside the industry and on minesites, including a presentation from Wesfarmers’ Curragh mine.
Both days can be booked separately.
