Better coal-to-coke yields at its Indiana Harbor facility also contributed to the improved result for the three months to December 31, 2014.
But While Indiana Harbor saw year-over-year improvement in the quarter, it fell short of Suncoke’s targeted range.
Full year 2014 estimated coke production of 4.1Mt is down about 94,000t compared with full year 2013 reflecting the combined impact of severe winter weather in first quarter 2014, refurbishment and production challenges at Suncoke’s Indiana Harbor facility and lower coal-to-coke yields at our Haverhill facility.
Domestic capacity utilisation for fourth quarter and full year 2014 is estimated to be 101% and 98%, respectively, as compared to 99% and 101% for the same prior year periods.
