Dust suppressant remains active throughout conveyor belt process

AUSTRALIAN dust, earth and water solutions company RST has launched a new conveyor dust control p...

Hydrostay has been designed to improve the moisture retention to maximise dust control over a longer period of time compared to water alone meaning it can stay active throughout the entire conveyor belt journey, RST operations and technical director David Handel said.

The benefits of the Hydrostay solution are that the dosing process is simple, the product is easily soluble in water, and it reduces dust at transfer points, he said.

“During the process of travelling along the conveyor system, and when the material is subjected to rejuvenation along the way, the Hydrostay product continues to remain active and maximise its dust suppression capabilities,” Handel said.

“The Hydrostay dust suppressant solution is applied at a variable rate to suit the conditions of the specific operation and RST can provide tailored information and advice.”

Handel said it was RST’s vast experience in problem solving that enabled the company to offer clients tailor-made solutions for their unique problems and projects.

“We go into the field, internationally, and work side by side with our clients to optimise the efficiency of their operations,” he said.

“We do a lot of our work in the mining industry but we also provide solutions to clients in industries including civil earthworks, construction, quarries, railways, transport, plantation, forestry and agriculture.

“We have developed solutions in dust control, road and soil stabilisation, water management and sediment treatments, erosion control, agriculture, and specialty projects like sporting arenas, vineyards and gardens.”

RST has a seven step solution method whereby they evaluate their client’s problem, develop a solution and then recommend and discuss that solution.

Once an agreement on the solution is reached, they design and install mechanical systems, implement the solution, monitor the results, and report, validate and recommend further strategies.

Handel said the fact RST can specifically develop a product, service or total package to assist clients in managing their problems is the company’s point of difference.

“The people at RST have decades of experience in the mining industry and a wide range of expertise including chemistry, accounting, engineering, project management and project analysis,” he said.

“We provide on and off site training and support and we pride ourselves on developing long term relationships with our clients – and many of our first clients are still clients to this day.”
