Malabar to prove up Spur Hill

FURTHER exploration utilising 2D seismic is planned at Malabar Coal's Spur Hill underground coal ...

Lou Caruana

This follows an exploration program in the June quarter in which four core and four open holes were drilled.

The holes were to the Whynot seam and targeted in the area where mining is expected to start.

Information obtained from the exploration program included seam structure, coal quality and geotechnical data.

Stress values were also measured – magnitude and direction – within the strata.

This will provide for the refinement of the underground mine layout.

Environmental studies advanced during the June quarter included surface and groundwater assessments, costing approximately $20,000 for the quarter.
