Mapp now Linc COO

LINC Energy has appointed Michael Mapp as its chief operating officer.

Mapp gained most of his experience at Vale and Xstrata, and was previously Linc’s coal president.

“The board of directors, having reviewed and considered qualifications and work experience of Mr Mapp, consider his appointment to be in the best interest of the company and its shareholders,” Linc said in a statement.

From April 2010 to May 2011, Mapp was operations manager at Ulan Underground for Xstrata Coal.

Prior to that, he was director of coal operations for Vale Australia from October 2008 to February 2010.

From July 2007 to October 2008 he was executive general manger of NSW operations for Vale Australia. And from May 2007 to July 2007 he was general manager of Integra Coal operations for Vale.

From December 2005 to May 2007 he was general manager of Integra for AMCI Holdings.

Additional mining experience was gained through Thiess Contractors as plant operations manager and Mining Technologies Australia director of engineering and operations, where he oversaw the introduction and operation of highwall mining systems in Australia.
