The mining towns competing were Emerald, Moranbah, Tieri, Middlemount and Glenden with the final at Black Springs Golf Course in Mackay. Eighteen teams competed over the nine hole events at each mining town golf course, with the top three teams from each event making it to the final at Black Springs Golf Course.
The top three teams were Moranbah: Mal Brown; Dean Grainger; Laurie Daniel; and Tony Moss. Moranbah: Phillip Breuer; Steve Breuer; Gaylene Breuer; and Terry Hann. Middlemount: Greg Bartley; Mark Vougler; Clarence Roberson; and Owen Taylor.
During the event a total of $4000 was raised for the Central Queensland Helicopter Service, an integral part of the mining area of the Bowen Basin.
