EIGHT Chinese coal miners have surfaced six days after a cave-in trapped them underground.

The miners reappeared at the entrance of the mine’s tunnel yesterday leaving one miner unaccounted for, China Daily reported.

The miners were hospitalised and reported to be in a stable condition.

The location of the last miner has been established and rescuers were trying to reach him, a Communist Party official said.

The cave-in took place last Thursday in the Zhaojiliang Coal Mine, when 38 workers were underground.

Twenty-nine miners initially escaped and a rescue effort followed for the missing nine workers.
