Reuters reported that Belon's production of thermal coal rose 60% from 2006 to 2.65Mt, while coking coal rose 16% to 2Mt.
Belon invested in several upgrades to its coal mining operations in 2007, including new equipment for its Novaya-2 and Novobachatsky mines and increased production at its Listvyazhnaya coal production plant.
The company was reported as saying its coal production would rise a further 50% to 7Mt in 2008, and that it intended to raise output to between 14-15Mt by 2012.
