Minova at QME 2010

MINOVA’S global strata support footprint is being continually enhanced through focused product development programs and highly skilled and experienced technical and operations personnel.

Staff Reporter

Since the successful move into steel strata support in early 2008 through the acquisition of hard rock industry leader Strata Control Systems, Minova Australia further expanded this offer with the launch of its coal market range and new manufacturing facility at Arndell Park in October 2009.

In combination with the industry’s most successful chemical technology, Minova now offers a leading range of strata support products and services to Australian coal and hard rock mining customers.

Minova is the new kid on the block for steel strata support components but has a 30-year history in the secure supply of high-quality chemical strata support consumables to Bowen Basin mines.

In addition to our new coal bolt product range, Minova will showcase two new significant product developments at QME 2010.

NovaBolt is a next generation self-drilling injectable bolting system. This ACARP-sponsored initiative is a joint project between Minova, Ground Support Services and Alminco, and includes all elements of the bolting cycle including the self-drilling bolt, resin system, rock bolt plate, and the installation drilling and injection equipment.

NovaBolt will successfully move the industry even closer to the holy grail of bolting safety and efficiency with a system that offers benefits including guaranteed encapsulation, with tensionable, extendable and cuttable options.

Minova’s Carbothix injection resin is a revolutionary system utilised in the NovaBolt range offering significant performance, safety and logistical benefits over traditional styrene-based polyester resin systems.

All elements of the NovaBolt system, including our technical experts, will be on hand to discuss benefits and opportunities at QME 2010.

As the global leader in Injection chemical technology, Minova is continually developing and introducing new strata consolidation and cavity filling products and systems for mining and tunnelling applications throughout the world.

QME 2010 will see the Australian launch of the Carbomine resin injection system.

Carbomine is an extremely fast reacting alkaline Phenolic system providing genuine performance, safety and application benefits over traditional injection products.

Carbomine’s application benefits include a low reaction temperature of less than 50C, low viscosity for enhanced crack penetration and high bond strength of up to 7MPa.

Unlike other injection systems Carbomine has no exothermic reaction when in contact with water, and as an added benefit utilises the same equipment for injection and cavity filling applications, providing a genuine advantage in roof fall recoveries.

Minova is Queensland's premier provider of emergency response and ventilation services and systems.

Specialist application and technical personnel will be on hand at QME 2010 to discuss the full range of Minova services, injection chemicals and ventilation systems.

The past 12-18 months at Minova has seen a substantial increase in customer engagement at all levels as we continually work to advance our customers businesses. With a long history built on creativity and sustained by product and business performance, Minova Australia has been enhanced by a diverse range of customer and industry challenges.

These challenges have provided a long list of successful developments that have enabled Minova and our customers to remain at the forefront of global product and system technology.
