BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance appointments

BMA ANNOUNCED new appointments at its Central Queensland coal mining operations and Brisbane office.

Ian Kilgour has been appointed general manager business improvement, based in Brisbane. Currently mine manager of Goonyella Riverside mine, Kilgour has worked for BHP Billiton in various management roles in Australia and internationally. He will head BMA’s continuous improvement strategic direction, and will manage the company’s business optimisation initiatives and projects.

Mick Madden has been appointed general manager operations and will be based at BMA’s Central Queensland Office near Moranbah. He is currently mine manager of the Blackwater complex and has previously worked in a number of senior management roles in central Queensland mining operations. In his new position, Madden will be responsible for BMA’s operational activities, with all operational sites reporting to him.

Madden is replaced by Mark Hill, who started his mining career with BHP Billiton as a graduate mining engineer. He has worked at Goonyella Riverside mine, Hunter Valley coal operation, and most recently as operations manager at Foxleigh mine in the Bowen Basin.

Ben Zietsman has been appointed the new mine manager of Goonyella Riverside mine. He currently works with BHP Billiton’s Ingwe Coal Corporation in South Africa as health, hygiene, safety, environment and technical business chief officer. Prior to this role, he held a number of general manager roles in the company’s South African coal business. He will be relocating to Moranbah in the near future.
