According to the Illawarra Mercury, the recruits came from the pool of more than 9000 applicants to BHP’s three-year graduate program, with Illawarra Coal external affairs head John Brannon calling them the “best of the best”.
The graduates will gain relevant experience under technical mentors, with formal positions to be offered at the program’s completion.
The recruits will reportedly rotate yearly between Appin, West Cliff and Dendrobium longwall mines.
