The office opened last Friday, according to Russian news service RAI Novosti, to nothing but praise from the Vietnamese government, who said the move was good for the coal industry and the energy sector.
“We want specific investment projects implemented on Vietnamese soil, both in coal and in the metals industries,” said company chief Vadim Varshavsky, who added he expects to open plants in the southeast Asian nation “in a couple of years’ time.”
Russky Ugol, or Russian Coal, has a current annual production of 15 million tonnes.
