National Coal Show opens

THE National Coal Show 2006 – touted as the only major coal show in North America this year – kicks off today in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The event celebrates the continued boom times the industry is enjoying and features more than 100 mining equipment, services and products by vendors from all over the US.

Following its usual format, the show will also include a conference component that will encompass a range of technical topics including regulatory updates, self-contained self-rescuer (SCSR) capabilities and challenges, training issues, an overview of coal operators’ safety programs, fire issues, room and pillar mining and new industry technology, among other subjects. The technical presentation’s keynote session is entitled “The Future of Mine Safety”

A fire prevention workshop is also scheduled for the second day of the event.
