The guideline was developed through a working group of representatives from underground coal, unions, equipment suppliers, NSW Mine Safety and the Department of Natural Resources and Mines Queensland.
It is intended for use by coal mines, metalliferous mines and quarries to help define, select and implement a suitable collision management system while providing consistency across the industry. It may also be used to review a system in operation.
The draft guideline and a separate feedback form are available at www.resources.nsw.gov.au/safety/publications/mdg.
The closing date for comment is September 27. Comments should be made on the feedback form and emailed to mine.safety@industry.nsw.gov.au.
