It is now advancing further studies to support the EIS and DA, including transport option analysis and design, design of coal-handling and preparation facilities, and design of mine surface infrastructure.
A gateway certificate for the project was issued by the NSW Mining and Petroleum Gateway Panel in March.
“Malabar is comfortable with the conditions of the certificate,” the company said in its March quarterly report.
“Importantly, the certificate allows the project to proceed to the development application stage on the proviso that the conditions are addressed.
“The project is the first new coal project in NSW to receive a gateway certificate, demonstrating that Malabar is progressing the project’s approvals as quickly as the applicable regulatory framework will allow.”
Environmental expenditure for baseline studies and EIS preparation totalled approximately $260,000 for the quarter.
