The company will initially put $115,830 into the commercial enterprise.
Under the partnership BGC Contracting’s FIFO employees will gain access to the full range of services and programs provided by FIFO Families.
The partnership was announced at the opening of BGC Contracting’s head office in the Perth industrial suburb of Osborne Park.
BGC Contracting CEO Greg Heylen said joining with FIFO Families showed that the company took the concept of looking after its employees seriously.
“One of our corporate values is safety and, as a part of this, we have made a commitment to look after our employees’ health and wellbeing,” he said.
“Those who have to spend long periods working on remote sites face unique pressures in their family lives and we have a duty to provide them with adequate support.”
FIFO Families founder and director Nicole Ashby said the partnership would allow families and couples access to support, guidance and educational support so they could make the most of their FIFO lifestyle.
BGC Contract’s largest FIFO site is Koolyanobbing, where it mines iron ore for Cliffs Natural Resources.
It also employs FIFO workers at Wodgina and Mt Webber for Atlas Iron, Spinifex Ridge for Mineral Resources, Ichthys LNG for Inpex and Roy Hill for Hancock Prospecting.
