Iron ore rebound coming: Arrium

Arrium chief executive Andrew Roberts has rejected negative market sentiment around depressed iron ore prices, saying a rebound is on the way as the market digests the current rush of new supply, Chinese port stockpiles move to steel mills and the government works through iron ore credit moves, according to The Australian.

Clive Palmer “ignored what we wanted”

When the Queensland government wanted an “apple” of a rail project out of the Galilee Basin, Clive Palmer’s company served up an “orange” and then cried foul when it wasn’t accepted, according to The Australian.

Mark Hinson, representing the government in a Queensland Supreme Court challenge by the company, said there was nothing wrong with assessing Waratah Coal’s proposal against the rail corridor sought in a policy for the region.

Evolution in NT venture

Gold producer Evolution executive chairman Jake Klein has parlayed a belief that Australia’s mineral wealth remains underexplored into a potential $28.97 million deal that delivers control of the historic Tennant Creek gold-copper province in the Northern Territory, according to The Australian.

Evolution is already a 450,000 ounce a year gold producer from five mines in Queensland and Western Australia.

The move into the NT is through a farm-in and joint venture with Australian Securities Exchange-listed junior Emmerson Resources, a Tennant Creek stalwart.
