RST develops pavement stabilisation polymer

REYNOLDS Soil Technologies (RST) is paving its way further into the engineering and construction sector for mining works with a newly-launched polymer solution specifically designed for pavement stabilisation.

Utilising the latest in micro polymer technology, the company formulated Titan – a highly effective, environmentally-friendly and ultra-concentrated liquid stabiliser that significantly improves soil engineering properties in earthworks and road construction projects.

Titan has been designed as a liquid soluble additive that, when applied to the compaction water, enables the treated material to be heavily-compacted to create a tightly-bound, all weather road.

RST’s operation and technical director David Handel said Titan was a direct liquid alternative that would help companies reduce costs, while improving overall productivity.

“Through extensive research and development, we were able to formulate and create a heavily-concentrated, non-hazardous and highly-soluble liquid stabiliser solution that can be easily implemented and diluted using the existing compaction water available,” he said.

“When blended into untreated granular road materials, Titan will reduce void spaces in between the soil particles, significantly increasing material density and strengths to create a hard-packed, yet flexible pavement with reduced permeability and ongoing structural integrity.”

“Being fast-acting there will be no curing time needed, meaning traffic, including heavy haulage trucks, can drive over the treated area during and immediately after construction, eliminating unnecessary downtime onsite.”
