Kal Tire Mining, a division of North American’s largest commercial tyre dealer Kal Tire, will make its debut at the Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition in Sydney this September, where its people will no doubt scope out the business environment and outlook with an eye to its looming expansion.

“We don’t have involvement in the coal industry at present, but our intention is to expand into the east coast in the near future, where the coal industry will be a key target for us,” Kal Tire’s commercial manager – Australia Danny Moore told ICN.

Kal Tire Australia’s Perth-based managing director Darren Flint said that having operated in Western Australia for many years, plus more than 40 years delivering tyre solutions to 150 mines across five continents, the group was expanding its reach to bring its expertise to the east coast.

The company was founded in the mountains of British Columbia Canada, more than 60 years ago, and has delivered local tyre solutions to mine sites from 14,000-feet high shifts in the Andes to the -30C oil sands of Alberta; from the scorching rainforests of Ghana to the remote red earth of the Pilbara.

“We’re considered a trusted partner to many of the world’s leading mining companies because we’re capable of handling all of the tyre requirements, every day,” Flint said.

“We’re on the mine sites, bringing our global experience and knowledge to deliver tyre supply and services that are really tailored to our customers’ needs. We don’t work for manufacturers. We work for miners.”

Kal Tire will showcase its “Journey to Zero” initiative at AIMEX, to highlight the company’s goal of zero harm for every team member, every day.

“Like our training, we have global standards when it comes to operating safely,” Flint said.

Kal Tire owns and operates four earthmover retreading facilities located in Canada, the UK and Ghana, west Africa that employ more than 5400.

In Australia, Kal Tire has operations in Bayswater, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland and Redcliffe.
