Santos locks in corrosion control

SANTOS has signed up Bureau Veritas to conduct inspection, non-destructive testing and engineering services for the newly operational Santos Gladstone LNG plant on Curtis Island, Queensland.

This agreement is on the back of 15 years of continued service to Santos’ Cooper Basin projects in South Australia and a recently commenced Santos GLNG upstream services agreement in the Surat Basin.

Together, these three projects have made Bureau Veritas a key strategic partner to Santos in Australia, the company said.

Bureau Veritas will supply a full time project team to the Curtis Island site, which will be supported by its Gladstone and Brisbane offices, and its recently developed Brisbane Corrosion Centre of Excellence.

The centre was developed to support the company’s network in Australia and provide specialist corrosion engineering and metallurgy services to the wider Queensland CSG-LNG market.

“The successful award of this project strengthens our position in the Queensland market and demonstrates Bureau Veritas’ ability to deliver best in class solutions to customers seeking Integrated NDT, condition monitoring and integrity management services,” Bureau Veritas’ Queensland operations manager Rhys Lewis said.
