The 60,000sq.km facility, located in Toowoomba, is expected to create at least 50 jobs for people in the region.
Inplex has already been delivering pipe to the two projects, with deliveries set to continue through to late 2013.
However, the plant will allow Inplex to manufacture the pipe in a quicker and more efficient manner.
“In addition to day to day business, this will allow us to keep up with the demand being generated by the factory’s two Queensland-based [coal seam gas] project supply contracts,” Inplex infrastructure general manager Kevin Kellow said in a statement to the media.
Queensland Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney also tagged along for the opening and praised Inplex for providing employment in the region.
“I would also like to congratulate Inplex for choosing the Toowoomba, Darling Downs region for their new plant which will create 50 new permanent jobs,” he said.
“This will eventually result in a positive flow-on effect to other areas of the local economy and is an example of the economic and community benefits the CSG/LNG boom is delivering directly to the region.”
