Gemcom's revenue for the quarter reached $C13 million, up from $8.1 million for the same time last year, with increases also recorded in EBITDA, income from operations, net income and working capital.
Among the company's operational highlights for the quarter were securing a contract with platinum giant Lonmin Plc to use Gemcom InSite as the short-term and continuous measurement system for the Marikana mining operation in South Africa and releasing Gemcom InSite 2.1 and MineSched 5.1 software systems.
Gemcom CEO and president Rick Moignard said accessing new opportunities and improving established services were the company's major focuses.
"Our objective is to enhance the capabilities of our geological modelling and mine planning tools, integrating these into a total solutions framework that addresses our customers' specific needs and supports a growing international sales pipeline," Moignard said.
"The company's higher activity levels in each of its regional business units in both established and emerging markets has positioned Gemcom to generate positive financial performance despite the impact of the strong Canadian dollar versus other international currencies."
