Wang’s appointment is currently pending approval by the TSX Venture exchange.
“Beginning with China, which we estimate to be the largest market for ActiveMine [ACT’s wireless communications and tracking system] in the world, Dr Wang will help execute, enhance and accelerate our time to market there, and build a solid foundation for our Asia-Pacific and Far East strategy," said Active Control president and chief executive Steve Barrett.
“Additionally, Dr Wang's unique expertise will be invaluable in achieving safety approvals for ActiveMine on a global basis."
Wang, a US citizen, was born in Beijing and is an expert in international technology approvals for IS, MSHA, IEC ex, ATEX, MA, UL, and CE for the coal, oil and gas, and other extreme environments. She is a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology in the US as well as Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.
Prior to joining ACT, Wang was president of ISC Asia Pacific from 2000 to the middle of this year. While there, she worked to develop various gas monitor products for coal and petrochemical applications.
Over her career, Wang also has earned several patents in the US for technologies related to gas sensors and safety and industrial hygiene applications for underground coal mining and the petrochemical sector.
ACT noted that its new international president would be granted 750,000 common shares of the company as part of her compensation package and would also have the opportunity to purchase additional shares at C10c per share over the next five years.
