According to an Interfax the Dafosi mine started construction on August 1 after feasibility studies were completed in June this year.
The feasibility study showed coal reserves of the Dafosi region at 1.2 billion tons, with the annual output capacity of the new coal mine estimated at 6 million tons.
Interfax said construction will last 28 months, involving a total investment of US$132.54 million. Nine companies have invested in the project with a new company overseeing the operations proceedings.
The thermal coal from the mine will mainly supply the region’s power plants. There are also talks of some of the coal to be designated for export, according to Interfax.
