Coal train derails in Hunter Valley

A COAL train heading from Mount Owen mine to Newcastle with 60 loaded wagons derailed on Friday.

AAP reported the Pacific National train derailed north of Singleton, near the Mount Owen loop, at about 11am.

A Pacific National spokesperson told AAP 12 wagons derailed, with two wagons tipping over and blocking the tracks. On Friday the cause of the accident had yet to be determined.

The two train drivers were not injured, and investigators were on site working to determine the cause of the accident.
