CRCMining said the course, Variable Speed Electrical Drives – Current Practice and Future Trends, will give a broad understanding of modern variable speed electrical drives, in particular medium voltage drives used in the mining industry.
The course has been prepared and will be presented by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Newcastle, a CRCMining partner.
It will provide participants with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about future plant investment without the fine detail more appropriate to specialist drives engineers.
Topics include a general introduction to drives (AC vs DC motors and drives; AC drives – structures, control methods, choice of drives; practical drive issues; and future trends.
The course will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at the Noosa Lakes Resort, Noosaville, Queensland and registrations close Friday, May 14. Further information is available at http://www.crcmining.com.au/news/2004shortcourse.html
