The Australian coal technology and technical services company will perform production testing work to ensure coal quality meets customer specifications.
The new Gregory/Crinum contract will be added to work already being done for CAML Resources’ Foxleigh mine and Anglo Coal’s Capcoal.
CCI Australia managing director Denise Gallagher said the company was also waiting on news of another large tender, the outcome due this week.
The BMA contract ensures the ongoing profitability of the new $500,000 CCI Emerald laboratory which performs coal quality, exploration, production and environmental work.
“When we decided there was a need for CCI to have a laboratory in Emerald, to complement our inland laboratories in Moranbah, Biloela, and Blackwater, we thought long and hard about the cost of the investment,” said Gallagher.
“We elected to build a modern and well equipped laboratory which is the only NATA accredited coal laboratory in the area. This investment has enabled us to offer these remote mines a high standard of service.”
Susan Maas, formerly at the Biloela operation, heads up the Emerald laboratory.
