Irving, ex group operations director of UK Coal, has been appointed to continue building Snowden’s coal capabilities in Brisbane and comes on board at the end of January.

The Brisbane office currently hosts 12 of the more than 50 Snowden mining industry consultants in Australia. The Brisbane team now includes seven resource geologists, four mining engineers, and one geotechnical engineer.

Irving has over 25 years experience in mining operations and management, which has been gained within the UK coal industry and as an independent mining consultant.

His mining expertise ranges from strategic management, process engineering, safety and technical reviews, due diligence, and feasibility studies, to training and auditing. He has worked in thin seams through to 5m thick seams, in longwall mining and room and pillar operations.

His experience covers mines with difficult geotechnical and environmental conditions and operations from 200m to 1,000m depth. Recently he worked in Eastern Europe and Middle East as a consultant.
