Massey Energy promotes Bauersachs

MASSEY Energy’s acquisition and development division has received a boost with the appointment of Michael Bauersachs as planning vice president.

Bauersachs joined Massey as acquisitions director in 1998 and has held primary responsibility for expanding Massey's coal reserves. In his expanded role, Bauersachs will focus on growth opportunities for Massey, including traditional coal acquisitions and other business development opportunities.

Before joining Massey, Bauersachs had twelve years experience working in the coal industry for other producers.

Bauersachs will work from Massey’s corporate headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, and will continue to report to chief administration officer Baxter Phillips Jr.
