Kerr will manage the Denver-based company’s investor relations, information technology project financings and capital markets endeavours, among other functions. Prior to joining Rentech, Kerr served as the chief financial officer of PPM Energy, a division of ScottishPower.
The appointment of the Stanford Graduate School of Business alumnus is effective May 15. Kerr said he is enthusiastic about the company’s current efforts and is anxious to get started.
“The coal-to-liquid technology developed by Rentech has the potential to make a significant difference to the supply of clean, US-produced liquid fuel,” he said. “I am looking forward to working closely with my new colleagues to turn that potential into a commercial reality.”
Kerr replaces Kevin Smith, who resigned from the post in February.
